You are So Cool - MFTWSC #226

MFTWSC226_2015apr29

Hi, everyone, I’m back again with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Challenge & Inspiration Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

MFTWSC226

I found this to be an interesting sketch and stay pretty true to it. I started with a Kraft card stock base, then stamped up some patterned paper by first stamping the grid using Plaid Builder Background and Blueberry dye ink. Then I stamped it all over with Happy Birthday Background and Kraft dye ink. Finally, I stamped the star from BB Super Boy in each of the openings with Orange Zest dye ink and matted it with Blueberry card stock. Next I made my tag, using Tag Builder Blueprints 2 Die-namics and added the grommet from Tag Builder Blueprints 1 Die-namics. It and the popsicle stick were cut from Kraft card stock stamped with Natural dye ink and Wood Plank Background. I stamped the sentiment, from LJD You’re the Sweetest with Blueberry dye ink and popped it up on foam mounting tape while tying hemp cord around. The popsicle was cut from Orange Fizz card stock with LJD Sweet Treats Die-namics and stamped with the stripes from LJD You’re the Sweetest. I popped it up on foam and finished off with some enamel dots.

Another sentiment from LJD You’re the Sweetest was stamped on the inside.

Welcome Baby - CTD #340

CTD340_2015apr29

Hello, everyone, it’s time for another Color Throwdown Challenge! This week the awesome Jodi is hosting and she has chosen some SWEET colors for us: pink, green, aqua.

swatch 340

I thought these pastel colors would be great for a sweet baby card. I’d been wanting to pair BB Somebunny balloons with the elephant from MSTN Wild Things and this was the perfect opportunity. I started with a Grout Gray card stock, then proceeded with one of my favorite layouts. I stamped up some patterned paper using Plaid Builder Background and Tickled Pink dye ink, Sour Apple dye ink, and Blu Raspberry dye ink and added a panel to my card base. Next up is a strip of Sweater Knit Background stamped with Tickled Pink dye ink. Then I popped up a piece of Sweet Tooth card stock dry embossed with Starry Night Stencil and added a Stitched Circle Die-namics cut from Sheet Music Background stamped Sweet Tooth card stock. Next I cut and stamped the elephant and the balloons on Neenah Classic Crest Cover, Solar White Smooth, 110lb paper with Black Licorice hybrid ink, colored them with Copic markers and popped them up on foam mounting tape. The sentiment is from LJD Beautiful Baby and was stamped on Steel Gray card stock with Versamark and heat embossed with white detail embossing powder. I finished up with some silver glitter stars, cut with Star STAX Die-namics, Sun, Moon, & Stars Die-namics, and Scattered Stars Die-namics along with a few enamel dots.

Another sentiment from LJD Beautiful Baby was stamped on the inside.

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD340 so we can see your beauty all in one place, and use #ctd340 and #colorthrowdown on social media. Hope to see you there! Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week, including our incredibly talented April Guest Designer, Karen Giron!

MFT April Ingenious Inking Challenge - Color-on-Color + a Video

ingeneousinking_2015apr28

Hey, there, everyone! Welcome to this month’s MFT Design Team Ingenious Inking Challenge! This month the theme is color-on-color. Fun!!

MFT_IngeniousInking_SideBar

My card has several layers of color and I have a video showing exactly how I did it. You can view it HERE on my YouTube channel or click on the button below.

I’ll also give a quick run down of the steps here. On a piece of Ranger watercolor paper, I stamped Sheet Music Background with Kraft hybrid ink due to it’s waterproof properties. Next I stamped three images from LJD Peaceful Wildflowers with Steel Gray hybrid ink. Then I stamped the image from Jumbo Abstract Art first with ink and then Versamark using Sno Cone dye ink, Berrylicious dye ink, and Blu Raspberry dye ink, heat embossing with clear detail embossing powder as each color was applied. Next I sponged Peach Bellini dye ink and Coral Crush dye ink on the bottom and Berrylicious dye ink and Blu Raspberry dye ink at the top, blending them together. The reason I used watercolor paper is for the next step: splattering the dye inks with clear water so the ink would move and create a cool effect. Finally, I stamped a sentiment from LJD Spring Tulips on Steel Gray card stock with Versamark, heat embossed with white detail embossing powder, and popped it up on foam. To finish off I added some enamel dots.

Another sentiment from LJD Spring Tulips was stamped on the inside.
